| BARN FIRE IN JACKSON TOWNSHIP |
| Sat, Oct 31st, 2009 9:47:00 am -
This morning multiple apparatus from Lebanon and Berks Counties were dispatched to a working barn fire on Kreider Road. The barn was part of a dairy farm and upon arrival to the scene firefighters learned that there were multiple cows in the barn. However no cows were lost due to the farmers kids, neighbors, and firefighters efforts to get them removed from the barn. The dairy parlor also happened to be saved in the firefighting effort. The firefighting apparatus remained on scene for about seven hours or so until the fire was put out and overhaul complete. Many tankers were dispatched in the effort to perform shuttle operations for water. There were two dump sites established and the tankers were pulling water from Dutch Valley Foods and Milliardsville Quarry. Multiple apparatus were on scene and it is estimated that about 100 firefighters fought the blaze. It took a long hard effort but eventually the firefighters got control of the fire and put it out with no known injuries reported. The fire marshal said that the fire is believed to be an accident. |
